Reporting Abuse and Neglect of Children and Elderly/Disabled Adults:

The team members at MMC are required by law to report any suspicion of neglect of abuse of a child OR neglect or abuse of an elderly or disabled adult.

The process at MMC is to immediately call Patient Management/Social Work at 521-2220. MMC will then call central intake to report the abuse/neglect. Please be aware that domestic violence IS NOT reportable to a state agency, but that social work requests referrals to discuss safety plans with the patient if they choose to go home to where the abuse occurred. Remember that documentation is the key to the investigation and that MMC team members are not investigators -- leave that up to the state agencies.
